Traditional Designs

Challenge to create new designs

Nakakin Glass challenges actively to the development of new products, “Guinomi Reverse Mt.Fuji” is such an example which was selected by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry as a Japanese local product recommended for exporting overseas (The Wonder 500 project).

Also, through public-academia collaboration, we have worked together with students of the Joshibi University Art and Design and created new designs that are not restricted by the traditional Kiriko sequential patterns, and taken them into our products. Please look at this page for the new designs.

Moreover, we actively keep our challenges to develop new products with technically difficult designs. The rock glass “Budou” is such an example, which has Edo-Kiriko cutting design on both the interior and exterior of the 3-layered colour overlay glass to display mysterious colour gradation.
